The making first set of panels it started relatively quick with
general wash of the panels getting rid of the rough dirt from them. Most of the
panels are relatively easy to make with exception of the rear quarters, rockers
and possibly the roof panel as they are fairly large to handle and part of them
needs to be made upside down so that the first part of the layup starts setting
up and will not fall off then they need to be slowly rotated then working
on quarters bit more can be layed up then finally turned bit more to layup final
part of them. Same process roughly applies to the rockers. Roof is not as bad
but can be tricky as the fold over needs to be layed up when panel is standing
up vertically let it setup then layed up side down then the resin start setting
up and rest of the panel can be layed up. For that matter front bumper needs to
follow same process as they are flanges under and on top of the bumper.First
problem came apparent when the process was not followed when making the roof
panel. It was started by making the large part of the panel, then it was stood
up to make the under fold. When the panel was vertical the wet unset material
rolled down to ground, resulting in wasted mat resin and gel coat needed to be
stripped down. Second attempt on making the roof panel was a problem of not
forcing far enough of the mat into corners where it did not filled it in and
possibly with gel coat not fully cured as it popped and dried making it very
rough.
Second problem came when making front fenders. Not exactly sure what happened
as they layed up perfectly OK however when they had been pulled from the mold,
4-6 inches around upper part of the wheel well rim slipped and was very wavy.

Started cleaning few molds today. Washed dust from front fenders, door skins,
hood, roof panel and inside and outside rear window trim. Tried making roof
panel but messed up on making the roof panel. Layed up the flat part of the roof and when I lifted on the side to lay the
return, entire panel rust rolled down and ruined entire panel. and just got left
with ruined material.
July 26
layed up first set of panels, hood, L & R door skin and outer rear window trim
July28
layed up front fenders after work today.
July 29
Prepped some smaller parts today. Had to strip roof panel from
gel coat as it
started to lift from the mold and laying up fiber glass on top would never
straighten it up
July 30
Layed up L & R door jambs, roof panel and inner rear window center L & R trim.
Aug 4
Prepped few more smaller pieces to be done during the weekday
Aug 7
Layed up part 1 of lower and upper rear centers, gelled up engine bay cover
Aug 14
made engine cover and 2 parts of the wing
Aug 15
Made flanges for part 2 for rear lower diffuser prepped quarter panel front
bumper and windshield frame. Layed up the rear diffuser , windshield frame and
front bumper
Aug 16
pulled front fenders out from molds, looks like they have slid down and got wavy
around top of tire lip. Roof panel somehow gell coat either did not get cured or
it was standing too long and popped out from the mold but it tends to look like
it was still wet when mat was layd on top.
Aug 20
filled up and prepped L & R rockers, prepped pt2 of diffuser for new mold
Aug 21
gelled L quarter, layed up L & R rockers and made new mold for pt2 diffuser
