  1st set  2nd set

Working with original set of molds so there is nothing different with them from when they where made and more information on how they had been made can be found at this <link>. Brian had some of them worked on by a local body shop so they are over sprayed with what it looks like high build primer, not sure why they would have done that other than possibly have a uniform coat and maybe to fill up some pinholes. He had indicated to pull first set and he will worry about the surface on those panels at later time. The over spray unfortunately goes over parting surfaces with other parts of the molds so that at least needs to be cleaned up. There are couple spots where some of the primer if I can call it seems like it was sprayed too thick or the molds was not cleaned up and it cracks and starting to peel, so those sections need to be cleaned as well.

July 24,
washed first set of molds, front fenders, roof, hood, door skins, Rear window dividers

Took a look at the molds sprayed with what ever. The idea of spraying the molds to fill up imperfections is great but it produces a lot of work to sand down the sprayed surface and causes reduction of surface. . Looking at just the sprayed surface of the spray it looks OK But then then you crack the over spray you see 1/8" of build up which I'm not sure what was the thought behind it not to mention that some of it was coming off fairly easy.

July 31
Noticed that one of the molds for rear upper center is missing. Good thing is that I know where I can find a part to make a mold off

The cover or second part of the lower diffuser was made just of contoured flat piece and never had any returns or flanges made to it as it was made using the actual lower part. I had mine part made by adding flanges and building up some surface to it and a also had to fill up a small indentation. Hence I'm doing same thing on this one. Will pull part from it and remake a new mold as it will be quicker and just as cost effective.

Aug 9
Made some further adjustments to lower diffuser mold. Still needs bit of filling and verification of fit the first part

Aug 15
Finalized adjustments to the diffuser mold and bonding flanges. Will have to remake mold as the changes will get damaged and making new mold will be less time consuming and more perminent once the part is pulled

Aug 21
Layed up new mold of 2nd part of diffuser when making up rockers. it will make it much easier to make up extra parts and dont have to worry about the adjustments and flanges to the original mold

Aug 23
Front fenders being that they are the oldest and where made in rather uncomfortable conditions, they are more then desirable to the quality, never the less they seem to be holding up still quite well even after being tossed around. Left one has a crack in the back by the door and right one has a through crack from what it looks like too much resin not enough matt. Surfaces where scuffed and filled in with new materials when making parts.
As the 2nd part of rear center upper section is MIA had to fabricate new mold from a part I had for my car. Good thing is that the inner flange was adjusted to better angle and it has perfect cut lines due to the rather crude  but effective cardboard flanges.
