As the Audi / Porsche / VW transaxel speedometer inducers are 4 revolutions per
rotation of the axel. However the GM ECM module is expecting 40 revolutions per
axel rotation for proper operation. To work around this problem we can setup a
40 tooth ring and pickup and send it to the ECM however that would expose the
ring and potentially and most likely damage it. So the safe way around it is to
have a period multiplier per each trigger. A small circuit can measure
period/trigger from the inducer and generate expected pulses that the ECM is
expecting. This approach will yield greater flexability as its controlled by
software. On the flip side its electronic components that needs to be designed
and mainteined.
