This is more like power switch that replicates ignition key
cylinder but in electronic form with extras and options making it a smart key
and can be interchanged with standard ignition key, column lock will be
dependant on eletro mechanical lock.
Normal key switch will have 3 power positions plus off or key not inserted. Some
newer cars will have optional switch detecting key insertion.
OFF - no power switching
Accessory - this position will provide basic power to things like radio and some
lights
Accessory II or ON - in this position power is applied to all systems in the
car, including power to PCM &
dashboard. There are normally 2 power wires in this position one that will
remain energised
and one will be switched off to heavy load systems as to reduce power
consumption when
starting engine
Start - This is a temporary on that will provide power to the starter to crank
the engine and start it. It
will also disconnect Accessory from position I and one of the power feeds from
Accessory II
position and just keep power to the PCM and all engine control circuits
- fob proximity
- security / keyless entry

- CAN control from instrument cluster
- power control AccI AccII Start
