With the very small open area to work with and not wanting to make any
alterations to the front trunk space and as we want to utilize as many OEM parts
on this car as possible. Additionally as the front suspension is utilizing C5/C6
control arms but we had forgone on the leaf spring from the Corvette. We wanted
to make provision for spring and shock absorbent. Normally this would not had
been for a large OEM manufacturer that could design and manufacture custom part.
For us we had to 2 component route as such the available space to mount two
components had doubled. Other problem was that as we decided to mount brake
booster directly on the firewall which also provides problem for windshield
wiper. The limited vertical space poses a problem where to locate upper
shock mount so that we can use a spring/shock combination that has a minimal of
6" travel to go over things like speed bumps or even on roads with potholes. So
the sway bar has to be wide enough to clear the spring and shock and the arms
have to long enough to clear the shocks. After few sway bars we had tried,
decision was made to use C5/C6 sway bar not as found in Corvette but rather
reversed. Mounted by the cabin firewall and arms going across control arms and
linking to to lower control arms. One problem with this arrangement is that the
standard Corvette links do not work and there is no OEM links that will fit
either due to the fact of how the holes are in relation between the bar and the
control arm.
